It would make very little sense for home insurance to expire if the owner is away from home. People have to go away for work, or on holidays. The policy still holds if the owner is away, although there is a tie restriction of 60 days. If the trip lasts longer than 60 days, you need to inform your insurance provider and keep them in the loop.
