Although all claims are subject to their unique circumstances, there are certain outlines of claims you can rely on.
If your property is declared a total loss which means it is completely damaged, you can claim the cost of rebuilding, which is the insured value.
The general rule of thumb for home content and personal belongings is to replace items beyond repair on a new-for-old basis. So items lost or damaged will be replaced as long as the damage is under their insurance limit and the items do not exceed SAL (Single Article Limit).
The coverage is higher for items listed in the Single Article Limit. If items listed in SAL are beyond restoration, they will be replaced according to the limit set in SAL.
