Seasons Greetings From The Team At BuyAnyInsurance

Written by Wasim

Greetings, as we approach the season where we see lights going up, and the stores are with Santa objects, it is a sure sign that Christmas is around the corner.

A tradition that many retailers, confectioners have capitalized on is the advent calendar.  I hear you say, what, the schedule that gives you a bar of chocolate each day? Yes!! That’s the one. However, did you know the origins of the advent calendar?

Why The Advent Calendar?

Advent is the four weeks beginning on a Sunday nearest the feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle (November 30) through the following three Sundays. Historians estimate that Advent, which derives from the Latin word for coming, has been celebrated since the 4th century. Initially, the period was a time for converts to Christianity to prepare for baptism, but it’s now more commonly associated with the anticipation of the anniversary of Christ’s birth on December 25.
