Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the BuyAnyInsurance office, we are supporting our Muslim colleagues who are fasting. However, I wanted to know more about the fasting and more importantly, the prayers that are alongside the fasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I spoke to my colleagues, and they explained the beautiful ritual of praying and fasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ritual of praying at least five times a day is known as \u201cSalah.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before beginning to pray, you will always need to know where the holy Kaaba in Makkah is and stand facing it. You will meet the sacred Kaaba in Makkah and perform the steps of the Salah as taught by the Prophet Mohammed.
The word Salah, in Arabic, can be translated to the connection, is designed to link devotees to their creator directly and when each player performs, it considers as you are straight standing in front of God and addressing Him in person.
Each Muslim adult is obligated to pray five times a day so that worshippers can maintain their connection with God.
The times and names of the prayers are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. The first prayer, called \u201cFajr,\u201d<\/strong> always starts at dawn and ends once the sun rises. 2. The second set of prayers is also known as \u201cDhuhr<\/strong>\u201d and begins at noon.
3. The afternoon prayer is called \u201cAsr<\/strong>\u201d and is around 4:30 pm
4. There is a prayer at sunset, \u201cMaghrib.\u201d<\/strong>
5. The evening prayer is called \u201cIsha<\/strong>\u201d and is about 8:30 pm
